Thin ice for Todd? If the team doesn't start well is he likely to get the axe?

Positive news as far as I'm concerned Yawney's track record of PK success and D development is a good fit for what the team currently needs!

McLellan is gone 20 games in if we have a losing record. Should be gone now, but it is what it is. This team is run by a bunch of dumb kunts. I think Dustin Schwartz should get canned too. Our goalies have not been that good either.

Great blog. In theory I like the idea of Woodcroft teaching the AHL team the system in place at the NHL level however it's hard to look at it completely positive with the amount of nepotism surrounding this organization.

That’s not a problem that is likely to go away.

Additional benefit is with Woodcroft already being "in", he doesn't have to worry as much about team results and can thus focus more on developing prospects and putting them in positions to succeed. Hopefully this means less veterans high in the line-up.

Maybe chiarelli believes that by just firing the asst coaches instead of the head, he’s left himself one more get out of jail card

Certainly possible. One more 'out' before the axe would inevitably come down on his head. I hope to god it doesn't come to that point and that the organization learns from its past hubris, but Chiarelli doesn't seem like the type to learn. Brightside is he's at least brought in some solid scouting types to set us up with solid prospect depth for when he eventually gets cut (ala Boston's 2014 draft)

I'm down to give McLellan another year. He has a good track record. He has to change some poop though.

This clears up room to hire Petr Klima, Moe Mantha and Jason Bonsignore
